INVITING FEEDBACK FROM PARENTS REGARDING WELFARE MEASURES UNDERTAKEN FOR DOMESTIC WORKERS
DPS Rohini as a socially responsible institution believes in guiding young students towards the path of creating a society which shares and cares. Children’s attitude and outlook does get influenced by their parents. Parents, being an integral part of school community play an important role in contributing to the common good, touching many lives.
One such neglected segment of our society is domestic workers. You may be aware that there are an estimated 39 lakh people employed as domestic workers by private houses like yours and ours, of which 26 lakhs are female workers. Though Govt. also has its focus to lookafter their interests and the Labour Ministry is drafting a National Policy on Domestic Workers but our little initiative, care and empowerment can further uplift this segment of our society.
Govt. has over a period of time come out with numerous Social Security Schemes. However, awareness of domestic helps about these schemes may be lacking in most cases. Apropos, parents role in educating and assisting their domestic helps in subscribing and thus beneficiary from these schemes as given below is solicited :-
# Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Beema Yojna (PMJJBY) (Insurance Scheme)
# Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan (Pension Scheme)
# Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY) (Health/Medicare/Maternity Benefit Scheme)
# Nation Health Protection Scheme (NHPS) (Health Care Scheme)
In addition parents can also contribute towards welfare of domestic helps as under :-
# Assistance in school admission of their children
# Provide free tution to their children
# Opening of Sukanya Samridhi Account for their girl children below 12 years
# Financial of in kind assistance on important occasions like marriage of their children
# Family planning measures and promote small family norms.
