A Career Workshop was conducted by Svasti Dutta, Alumni, for the students of Class-X highlighting the Liberal Education and 21 Century skills available at Ashoka University. She briefed students about the importance of exploring multiple academic disciplines and making an informed decision. At Ashoka University, she stated, students are free to design their own undergraduate degree by choosing the subjects they are most passionate about. Svasti also shared her personal experiences as a II year Psychology (Hons.) student at the University. She addressed student queries related to the admission process and the types of graduate and post-graduate courses available at the university.

An orientation session on Careers in advertising with special emphasis on becoming a voiceover artist was conducted by Sankul Nagpal, Alumni, for the Humanities stream, Class XII. Sankul briefed students about job opportunities in the field of advertising and shared details of free software available on the Internet, which is required to become a voiceover artist. He also talked about maintaining a balance between academics and co- curricular activities. He answered questions related to competitive exams for entrance into Law.

The Resource person, Ms. Kriti Singhal from The Education Tree dealt with sensitive issues like self esteem and self-worth citing her own example. She talked about the importance of goals and vision, and also emphasized on tireless labour to achieve the same.

A session on stream selection for class XI was conducted for the students of class X on 23 January, 2019. The session commenced with the Vice Principal, Ms. Kanika Govi’s address to the students and an orientation speech presented by Ms. Mamta Nangia, the school Career Counsellor. Subject Coordinators of various subjects briefed students about the subjects, skills required to study them and the challenges faced by students while studying those subjects. They were also informed about the different career options available in various streams and subjects.

The event comprised of an interactive session by guest speakers from various Indian universities. It was followed by individual counselling sessions by the university representatives in the school premises. The session commenced with the Vice Principal, Ms. Kanika Sachdeva Govi, addressing the audience. Ms. Prerona Sanyal, Social Media Manager and student counsellor from University Connections then briefed the audience about the skills required to pursue an area of study and making a career choice. She reiterated the need to be well informed before choosing a college or university. It was an informative session on the whole and provided a platform for students and parents to explore a wide arena of academic options available in India.

The session was initiated with an innovative introduction by the participants with career options similar to their names and personal quality. Day One included the difference between career and guidance in detail. The sources for decision making on career choice were identified including personal variables, personality and values.
Day Two included a number of case studies, discussions and presentations on the choice of career options. Role Plays were performed on careers including work culture, challenges, roles and responsibilities, remuneration to understand the careers in detail. A quiz about career awareness was also conducted for identifying careers for a reality check.
Brainstorming sessions on various career options were conducted. It was interesting to participate in career related activities that can be planned for the students.
