FIT INDIA MOVEMENT 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Fit India Movement’ on August 29, 2019. The live telecast was watched by all nation-wide. Mr. Modi appealed to every citizen to remain healthy and fit. The event was launched at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi at 10 a.m.

After a colorful presentation of India’s dance forms, martial art forms and sports, the PM paid A tribute to Major Dhyan Chand, the great sportsman who was born on this day and amazed everyone with his fitness, stamina and hockey stick. The PM also launched a ‘Fitness Logo and a Fitness Pledge to make India a fit nation.

BIZECO 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: An Inter School Commerce and Economics Fest BIZECO 2019 was organized by the Bizeco Club of DPS Rohini on Saturday, 22 July 2019 at DPS Rohini.

20 schools with 200 participants participated in various online and onsite events.

The online events comprised of Bizeco Premier League and The Endgame.

The onsite events were The Outcry, The Insolvent, The Turnaround, The Bizeco Stock Exchange and The Realtor.

Mother's International School won the overall trophy while Montfort School was the runner up.

XINO 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL Rohini hosted XINO-2019, an Inter School Computer Competition on Saturday, 20 July 2019 in which 20 schools from Delhi and NCR participated.

The competition was held with the firm belief that it is possible to explore new horizons of technology through innovation and practical learning.

XINO 2019 provided a platform to the young tech enthusiasts to equip them with skills that will help them shape the digital world of tomorrow. The symposium, with a wide spectrum of eight uniquely designed events motivated the students to think out of the box and give a prodigious opportunity to compete, perform and work on amazing ideas. The various events were: Quiz, Crossword, Group Discussion, Hackathon, Programming, Surprise event, Photography and Open Source Marathon.

Delhi Public School-Rohini won the First Runners Up Trophy but being the host school passed it to Delhi Public School-Dwarka. Delhi Public School- RK Puram won the Winners' Trophy.

FOUNDATION DAY AND INVESTITURE CEREMONY

ABOUT THE EVENT: Delhi Public School Rohini celebrated its 25th Foundation Day and Investiture Ceremony on 3 July 2019 with great fervour.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by the Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh.

The air was filled with a mellifluous accord of sounds as the school choir mesmerized the audience with an inspirational song.

The Principal shared with the audience the achievements of the institution and highlighted the Class X and XII Board results of the academic session 2018-19. She also shared names of students who have brought laurels to the school by securing admission at reputed foreign universities. The Head Boy Mehul Arora had made the school proud by getting admission in Stanford University the first such feat for DPSR. She enumerated the list of accolades the Silver Jubilee Year has brought along with it. In her speech, she also spoke about the social initiatives which have been taken up by the school for the current academic year. This was a step an initiative towards accomplishment of the profound social responsibility of grooming the minds of the future generations.

The Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh then presented badges to the newly appointed School Council and administered the oath of sincerity and dedication. The outgoing Head Boy Mehul Arora and Head Girl Rachita Saha handed over the school flag to the new Head Boy Vanshaj Vohra and Head Girl Molina Singh.

A show titled –‘Education Beyond Academics’ was staged by the senior students of the school portraying the role of education in shaping a better society.

The programme concluded with a scintillating dance performance titled ‘Gurukul - House of Education’, a presentation dedicated to all the Gurus, depicting the growing stature of DPS Rohini in the last 25 years.

Awards and Cash Prizes were given to students excelling in the field of academics and competitive exams, as a part of the Scholar Badge Ceremony.

SCHOLAR BADGE AND AWARD FUNCTION SESSION 2018-19

ABOUT THE EVENT: Delhi Public School, Rohini took immense pride in celebrating the success and perseverance of students in the Scholar Badge and Award function held for the scholars of Classes VI – IX on 3 May 2019. The event was organized to recognize and honour meritorious students of the Middle and Senior School.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Mrs. Vibha Singh, Principal, Delhi Public School, Rohini, welcomed the august gathering and congratulated the parents on the success of their children. She also highlighted the Class XII Board Results and praised Mehak Talwar for winning Delhi Rank I and All India Rank III in the Class XII Board Examinations. The Principal shared names of the students who have brought laurels to school by excelling in prestigious competitive exams. such as Ramanujan, Aryabhatta, NTSE and KVPY. She also emphasized on the contribution of the parents and teachers in bringing out the best in children.

The School Choir enthralled the audience with a musical presentation, which highlighted that it’s important to let your aspirations and desires soar higher. An exhilarating dance performance entitled ‘Water is Life’ captivated the audience. A short Skit titled ‘Gratitude and Gratefulness’ was presented by students to highlight the importance of compassion.

Lauding the students for their commendable efforts, the Principal and grandparents awarded Scholar Badges to the scholars as a hallmark of true academic genius for their hard work and determination. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

WORLD DANCE DAY – 29 APRIL 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: World Dance Day was celebrated on Monday, 29th of April 2019 with great enthusiasm. Various activities for classes II to XII were planned to mark the occasion. Class II and III danced to rhythmic and vibrant music taught by the core team of the school’s dance club. They also had a colouring activity related to the same in their classrooms. A workshop on Contemporary and jazz styles of dance was organised and conducted by ex -students Antarviksha Parihar and Ridhi Jain. Audio visuals on a variety of Indian dance styles were shown in the classrooms of the junior school. The highlight of the day was the Flash Mob by the class XII students.

Ms Kanika Sachdev Govi, Vice Principal DPS Rohini in her address to the students stressed on the importance of dance in one’s life. She further added that dance not only helps in invigorating the body but is also an excellent therapy for the mind. It was a truly enriching experience for one and all.

POSTCARDS FROM PARIS 2019 – FRENCH DAY – 27 APRIL 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: The Delhi Public School Rohini celebrated the French Day-‘Postcards from Paris 2019’ on Saturday, 27 April 2019. The event witnessed an admirable display of skill, innovation and creativity, in a wide array of Off-site and On- site events such as Bienvenue en Inde-Welcome to India, On Joue Panchatantra-Enactment of a tale from Panchtantra, A La Carte-design a menu card and so on. The event proved to be a rewarding opportunity for students from ¬ various schools to showcase their talent.

The Chief Guest for the occasion Prof. BP Khandelwal, Member DPS Society, Member Managing Committee , DPS Rohini, the Guest of Honour Ms Maryline Laidin –Attaché for Cooperation in French Language, Embassy of France, New Delhi and the Special Guest Dr. Mrs. Zeenat Khadar –Joint Secretary –DPS Society and National Convenor joined the school Principal, Mrs.Vibha Singh in her praise for the students’ efforts in designing, planning and executing an event of such grandeur. The Chief Guest Prof. BP Khandelwal, was overwhelmed to see the variety of talent displayed by the participants and talked about the importance of such events which prepare students to grow in various avenues in life.

The special guest Dr. Mrs. Zeenat Khadar appreciated the gleaming enthusiasm, exuberance and triumphant spirit of the young participants.The Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh emphasized on the paramount importance of learning a language, which opens vistas of learning, making students more tolerant and liberal in the process.

The eventful day culminated with the Prize Distribution Ceremony, in recognition of the efforts of the students from various participating schools.

WORLD BOOK AND COPYRIGHT DAY – 23 APRIL 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT:'World Book and Copyright Day' was celebrated on 23 April 2019 at DPS Rohini. Students participated in activities like Whole School Reads Together, Book Mark Making, Book Jacket Making, Star Reader, Forget–Me-Not–Book Mark Making, Designing ‘Award Trophy’ for favourite Book or Author and Book Collage Making.This event was designed to encourage students to read more regularly and avidly.

EARTH DAY CELEBRATION 15-22 APRIL 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: 'The Earth has enough to fulfil everyone’s need, but it can never satisfy everyone’s greed'... Mahatma Gandhi

The students of the Infant School enthusiastically participated in various activities to commemorate the Earth Day from Monday, 15 April 2019 to Monday, 22 April 2019. A week long celebration to mark the Earth Day saw an array of activities which were organized with a view to sensitize children about the need for conservation of natural resources and motivate them to do their bit towards making our planet even more beautiful.

The weeklong celebration began with a badge making activity. Children made badges with an Earth Day pledge inscribed on it. These were worn by the children throughout the week. This was followed by an activity focusing on cleaning the school premises. The children made beautiful drawings and coloured the sheets related to Earth Day. A power point presentation was shown to all the children to reinforce the importance of taking care of our beautiful planet.

A special assembly was organized on Monday, 22 April 2019. The school choir presented a melodious song followed by a motivational Thought for the Day. The children also presented an inspiring skit and recited lovely rhymes, thus bringing an awareness about the steps that should be undertaken to make our Earth a better place to live in. The students were led into an Oath Taking by the Principal wherein the students promised to contribute wholly towards nurturing and protecting Mother Earth. The Principal also inaugurated the compost pit.The parents were also encouraged to be equal partners in the school’s endeavour to keep our environment clean and green.The events of the week inspired the children to save, love and respect Mother Nature.

NURSERY ORIENTATION - 4 APRIL 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: An Orientation Session for the parents of the new Nursery students was organized on Thursday, 04 April 2019.The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh. The young and enthusiastic singers set the mood with a foot tapping song. The Principal welcomed the parents and addressed the gathering. This was followed by a session on ‘Effective Parenting’ by the School Counselor, Ms. Jyoti Bajaj. A power point presentation and demonstration of the ‘Learning and Craft Kits’ provided the parents an insight into the play way method of teaching that is adopted in the class for the development of the gross and fine motor skills. The highlight of the day was the enactment ‘I Believe in Myself’ by the students of Class I, which reiterated the fact that we must try to get rid of our fears and self doubt in order to achieve our goals in life. The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks followed by the National Anthem..

‘A Piece of Wood, Pinocchio -a saga of crumbling lives’ - 23 FEBUARY 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: Delhi Public School, Rohini celebrated a Cultural Day Programme titled, ‘A Piece of Wood, Pinocchio -a saga of crumbling lives’ by the students of Classes II and III on Saturday, 23 February 2019, with great enthusiasm and fervour. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Anurag Tripathi, IRPS, Secretary, CBSE. Ms. Namita Pradhan, IAS, Member DPS Society was the Guest of Honour at the event. The school Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh welcomed the august gathering and expressed her pleasure over the 100% participation of the students in the programme. Rhythm in Strings – a sitar recital by budding musicians enthralled the audience with their performance. The highlight of the day was the musical treat - ‘A Piece of Wood – Pinocchio - a saga of crumbling lives’ which reaffirmed the qualities of honesty, integrity, responsibility, courage, faith and imagination and led students to dream and dare. The Chief Guest, Mr. Anurag Tripathi praised the efforts of the students, teachers and the School Principal in keeping the flag of DPS Rohini flying high. The programme culminated with the vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

Cultural Day - 16 FEBRUARY 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT: Delhi Public School, Rohini celebrated a Cultural Day Programme titled, ‘Aladdin – Magic with a twist – a musical Treat’ by the students of Classes IV and V on Saturday, 16 February 2019, with great euphoria and fervour. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr.Sanjay Goel, Director (Education) Govt. of NCT of Delhi. Sh.Promod Rawal, Vice Chairman, Managing Committee, DPS Rohini presided over the event. The school Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh welcomed the august gathering and highlighted the achievements of the students in the CBSE and other prestigious competitions. She also spoke about the inclusive education policy of DPS Rohini and how students are given a vast canvas to experience a myriad of experiences through participation in various activities. Rhythm in Strings – a sitar recital by budding musicians enthralled the audience with their performance. It was followed by a full throated rendition of ‘Rang de Aman se Aasmaan’ by the Junior School Choir which touched a poignant note in the hearts of all. The highlight of the day was the musical treat – Aladdin: Magic with a Twist which urged the audience to follow their dreams, believe in oneself and motivated all to eradicate the evils that are corroding our society. KALEIDOSCOPE - 21 DECEMBER 2018

ABOUT THE EVENT: Delhi Public School, Rohini, celebrated KALEIDOSCOPE- 2018, an amalgamation of Mental Wellness and Inclusion on 21 December 2018.Students from various schools enthusiastically participated in the events that were organised on this day. The celebration began with the lighting of the Ceremonial lamp. A Panel Discussion on the topic ‘Social Media and Youth’ was an enriching experience for the audience. Jagrit, an interpretation of thought- provoking videos drew the viewers’ appreciation. Vivechan, a turn- coat debate on the topic ‘Social Acceptance Leads to Inclusion’ offered some food for thought. A Short Story Writing Competition Bolbala’ on the topic ‘Inclusion in Everyday Life’, Avmukta, a Poster Making Competition and a non-competitive Poem Recitation Competition saw an enthusiastic participation of the students.

The Panelists and judges for various events were Mr. Rippan Sippy, a renowned Clinical Psychologist and a Special Educator, Dr. Renuka Malik, an associate Professor in Government Girls College, Bahadurgarh, Dr, Nisha Vashisht, an Associate Professor, Department of Zoology, Miranda House and Ms. MamtaSaluja, a recipient of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Teacher’s Award 2015. Other guests and judges were Ms. Vinita Goel, a Representative of Delhi School of Social Work, Ms. Manisha Arya, a Jury member of NIFT and Counsellors from DPS, Mathura Road and DPS, Noida.The celebration turned out to be a successful attempt to sensitize the viewers about the importance of ‘Inclusion’ in our individual and social life.

ABOUT THE EVENT: The National Level Aero Olympiad Competition Aerolympics-2019 was organized by The Aeronautical Society of India, Bangalore. A team of three students of class IX submitted a report on the theme: Indian Space Exploration in the first Phase. Our school team was selected out of the top 22 teams from all over India for the Phase 2 programme to be held in Bangalore from 18 January to 20 January 2019 .

‘NIHON NO KAORI’- INTER SCHOOL JAPANESE LANGUAGE FESTIVAL-2018
Saturday, 01 DECEMBER 2018

Under the aegis of Delhi Public School Society, ‘Nihon No Kaori’ – the Inter School Japanese Language Festival – 2018 was hosted by Delhi Public School Rohini on 01 December 2018. The festival aimed at enhancing the understanding of the culture and language of the Japanese people among Japanese language learners.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Promod Rawal, Vice Chairman, Managing Committee, DPS Rohini and Mr. Masahiro Kobayashi, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan was the Guest of Honour Dr. (Mrs.) Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary, DPS Society graced the occasion as the special guest.

The mega event saw the participation of around 100 students from 16 schools. The students spent the day replete with fun and learning and participated in an array of competitions like Group Poetry Recitation, Art of Story Telling, and Theatre performances. An exquisite exhibition displaying Japanese New Year Envelopes, Lanterns, Cherry Blossom Paintings with Haiku and Architectural Marvels with Calligraphy was put up.

The festival culminated with the Valedictory Function. The School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh welcomed the august gathering, complimented the participants, appreciated the efforts of the teachers and thanked the judges as well as the guests for gracing the occasion. She also reiterated the need for fostering skills of the Japanese language and the culture of Japan in Indian students that would in turn, strengthen the bond of friendship and fraternity between the two countries.

A beautiful and melodious Japanese song was presented by the students of DPS Rohini and a video presentation showcasing all the activities held as part of the event was shown. This was followed by a recital of some of the Award Winning Performances and the Prize Distribution Ceremony.

The Chief Guest was overwhelmed to see the variety of talent displayed by the participants and appreciated the school Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh for providing a platform where children received an amazing opportunity to absorb and appreciate the two cultures. He also talked about the exemplary discipline and the strong value system in Japan. He further suggested that a trip to Japan in 2020 should be organized so that the Japanese language learners get a peep into the culture and value system of Japan. This would also give them a brilliant opportunity to witness the Olympic Games in Japan.

Dr. (Mrs.) Zeenat Khader talked about the beauty of the Japanese language and the way it reflects the behaviour of the Japanese people. She further added that the students should become ardent learners of the Japanese language as well as explore Japan’s food, culture and traditions.

Mr. Masahiro Kobayashi, the Guest of Honour shared some interesting facts about Japan’s culture, technology, natural and seasonal beauty. He further emphasised that India and Japan share economical as well as cultural bonds. He also thanked the School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh for organizing such a wonderful event.

ONE NATION READING TOGETHER

One Nation Reading Together is an annual event where school children across the country spend 30 minutes on the designated day to celebrate reading as a pleasurable and enriching experience. We at DPS Rohini had joined this campaign to celebrate the pleasures of reading on 30th November 2018. Student, Teaching Staff, Support Staff brought their own books and enjoyed them thoroughly going on to make it a successful event.

GERMAN EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
Friday, 02 NOVEMBER 2018

As part of the German Exchange Programme 2018 –19 facilitated by Max Muller Bhawan, New Delhi, a team of 12 German students and 2 German teachers Ms. Lena Grothues and Ms. Esther Weissnicht of Die Loburg, Gymnasium Johanneum, Ostbervern visited Delhi Public School, Rohini from 18 October to 2 November 2018.

To enhance their understanding of Indian Art and Culture, the German students were involved in a project on the theme – ‘Fairy tales, myths and legends: An expression of cultural identity.’ The German students attended classes at DPS Rohini to gain an insight into our teaching – learning methodology.

Along with their Indian counterparts, they visited the Taj Mahal at Agra, the German Embassy, Akshardham Temple and other places of interest for tourists. It was an enriching experience for the students of both the countries and the German guests carried back fond memories of the trip.

SCHOLAR BADGE AND AWARD FUNCTION

Delhi Public School, Rohini hosted its Scholar Badge and Award Function for the Junior School Classes IV - V and Senior School Classes X -XII on, 11 October 2018. The function commenced with the ceremonious lighting of the lamp. Ms. Vibha Singh, Principal DPS Rohini felicitated the Chief Guest Ms. Kiran Dattar, Member DPS Society.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal congratulated the parents on the success of their wards and elaborated upon the various social initiatives that the school had undertaken lately. She also emphasized on the immense responsibility of teachers and parents in inculcating highly-developed soft skills among children to enable them to become worthy and contributing members of the society. She concluded by saying that we must adopt a well balanced approach towards life to serve ourselves as perfect role models for our children.

The School choir enthralled the audience with their mellifluous symphony of instruments and voices titled ‘Aasmaan Se Paar Shayaad Aur Koi Aasmaan Ho’. This was followed by a talk show titled ‘Going Places’. An exhilarating dance performance, entitled ‘There is no Heaven, we are the world’ captivated the audience.

Awards were presented to the students as a hallmark of true genius for their hard work and determination. The Chief Guest applauded the awardees and emphasized on the importance of character building which will help create a more harmonious society. She also congratulated the School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh for the dedicated efforts towards celebrating 2018 as a year of social initiatives.

The quiz master for the day was Mr.Siddhartha Kurapati, Mentor: Concepts at Quiz Craft Global along with his team mates Ms. Mudita Chauhan – Mubayi, Knowledge Entrepreneur and Co-Founder, Quizcraft Global and Mr. Mahendra Singh, Technical Specialist, Assistant Head of Production at Quizcraft Global.

The Guest of Honour was Ms. Sandhya Awasthi, Director, Delhi Public School Society and National Convener for Inter – DPS Quiz 2018. Six teams were selected as finalists from the junior and senior category respectively through a process of elimination.

In the junior category the First Position was bagged by DPS Rajnagar and the Runner up was DPS Panipat. In the Senior Category the First Position was held by DPS Faridabad and the Runner up team was DPS Noida.

The programme concluded with a vote of Thanks proposed by the Vice Principal, Ms. Kanika S. Govi. The Guest of Honour, Ms. Sandhya Awasthi gave away the prizes to the winning teams.

FOUNDATION DAY AND INVESTITURE CEREMONY

Delhi Public School Rohini celebrated its 24th Foundation Day and Investiture Ceremony on 6 July 2018 with great enthusiasm.

The morning commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Honourable Chief Guest Shri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman, Delhi Public School Society and the Guest of Honour Shri Promod Rawal, Vice – Chairman, Managing Committee, Delhi Public School, Rohini.

The Chief Guest Shri V.K. Shunglu Chairman, Delhi Public School Society in his address lauded the achievements of the institution and encouraged the students to work hard and learn time management, for these are the ingredients to achieve success. He then presented badges to the newly appointed cabinet and administered the oath of sincerity and dedication. The outgoing Head Boy and Head Girl handed over the school flag to the new cabinet members.

Shri Promod Rawal , Vice – Chairman , Managing Committee , Delhi Public School, Rohini felt extremely proud and congratulated the school for providing quality education aimed towards building responsible citizens for tomorrow and ensuring a standard of excellence in the school.

Ms. Vibha Singh, Principal - DPS Rohini, highlighted Class XII Board Results which have won DPS Rohini State level Rank III out of the 1702 CBSE affiliated schools in Delhi. She also shared the names of students who have brought laurels to school by winning prestigious competitions such as Aryabhatta, NTSE and KVPY. Awards and Cash Prizes were given to students excelling in the field of academics and competitive exams. In her speech, she also spoke about the initiatives taken by the school towards energy conservation by setting up solar panels in the school.

The air was filled with the mellifluous accord of sounds by the musical presentation – ‘Raag Bhimpalasi’ and the school choir mesmerized the audience with an inspirational song – ‘Tu Zinda Hai Toh Zindagi Ki Jeet Par Yakeen Kar’.

On the occasion, a play titled – ‘Student’s Carol’ was staged by the senior students of the school to depict the ever changing education system and its effect on students.

The programme concluded with a scintillating dance performance titled - ‘Beyond Borders’.

The celebration ended with the National Anthem.

XINO - Inter School Computer Competition

XINO 2018, an Inter- School Computer Competition was hosted by Delhi Public School, Rohini on 12 May 2018. The event saw participation of approximately 200 students from 16 schools from Delhi and NCR.

The competition, with an ensemble of seven uniquely designed events Tech Exult (Quiz), X-Word (Crossword), Exclamation Point (Group Discussion), Exquisite (Creative Event), Execute (Programming Event), Exclusive (Surprise Event) and X- Quest (Online Hunt), motivated the students to think innovatively and provided a platform to the young tech enthusiasts to express creativity and display their technical prowess.

Mrs. Vibha Singh, Principal, DPS Rohini, in her speech appreciated the students for their efforts in designing, planning and executing the tech savvy programme.

DPS R. K. Puram bagged the Rolling Trophy. The First Runner Up was DPS Vasant Kunj, while DPS Dwarka was declared the Second Runner Up. The event wise results are as follows:

SCHOLAR BADGE AND AWARD FUNCTION SESSION 2017 - 18

Delhi Public School, Rohini took immense pride in celebrating the success and perseverance of the scholars in the Scholar Badge and Award function held for Classes VI – IX on 5 May 2018. The event was organised to recognize and honour meritorious students of the Middle and Senior School who excelled in Scholastic and Co-scholastic areas. The Chief Guest for the function was Mr. Rajneesh Gupta, IPS Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini District, Delhi.

The programme was initiated by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Mrs. Vibha Singh, Principal, Delhi Public School, Rohini, welcomed the august gathering and congratulated the parents on the success of their children. She also, emphasized on the immense responsibility of the parents in bringing out the best in their children.

The School Choir enthralled the audience with their musical presentation, which conveyed the message that determination and perseverance play an important role in overcoming many obstacles in life. An exhilarating dance performance entitled ‘Catch the Light’ captivated the audience.

A short Skit titled – ’Education not Literacy at DPS Rohini’ was presented by students to give a bird’s eye view of the work and the lives of the students and staff of DPS Rohini.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Rajneesh Gupta talked about ARC triangle – Affinity, Reality and Communication and their importance in life. He also shared his life experiences to motivate the awardees to be responsible citizens and serve the society in their individual capacity.

Lauding the students for their commendable efforts, the Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh and the Chief Guest Mr. Rajnessh Gupta awarded Scholar Badges to the scholars as a hallmark of true academic genius for their hardwork and determination.

WORLD DANCE DAY – 2018

World dance day was celebrated on 27th of April with great enthusiasm. Various Activities were planned to mark the occasion.

A workshop on mayurbhanj chhau dance and Indian contemporary dance was organised and conducted by the eminent artists of KALALAYAM, a premier dance institute in Delhi.

Poster making, just a minute and audio visuals on Indian dance styles were among other activities planned.

The highlight of the day was an inspiring session by Smt. Sharon Lowen ma’am showcasing her journey as a dancer and her association in propagating Indian classical dance, ODISSI.

The school Principal Ms. Vibha Singh in her address stressed on the importance of dance in one’s life. She further added that dance not only helps in invigorating the body but is also an excellent therapy for mind. It was a truly enriching experience for one and all.

Nursery Orientation Programme

Delhi Public School, Rohini organized an orientation programme for the parents of the Nursery students on Wednesday, April 4, 2018.The session commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Junior School choir presented a scintillating rendition of ‘It’s a Beautiful Day’.The Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh welcomed the parents and emphasized their role in shaping their children’s personality especially in the crucial years of their growth. The teachers for the respective sections of Class Nursery were introduced. This was followed by a thought provoking session by Ms. Shubha Chandrashekhar, the school counsellor. An interesting ppt helped the parents to gain an insight into the daily routine of the tiny tots in school.

The session came to a close with a colourful dance recital titled ‘Spectracular’, presented by the students of the Infant School, which was enjoyed by everyone.

Students of the Infant Wing of Delhi Public School, Rohini presented a cultural programme on Friday and Saturday, 16 and 17 March 2018 respectively. The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh welcomed the guests and appreciated the efforts of the teachers and students in staging the cultural programme ensuring 100% participation of the children. A scintillating composition by the Infant School choir mesmerized the audience. A musical ballet, 'Spectacular — a tale of uniqueness, peace and harmony' enthralled one and all.

The Graduation ceremony for Class I was also celebrated. The students bid adieu to the Infant School in a heart touching ceremony. The cultural programme proved to be a roaring success.

Times NIE Newsmaker’s Meet 2017-18

The Times-NIE Newsmakers' Meet was organized on 5 February 2018 at Amity University, bringing together Times NIE Star Correspondents, to hone creative writing abilities and encourage budding journalists in schools. The students sat for an evaluation exam which assessed their general awareness levels, writing style, creativity, quality of thought and ability to conceptualize and report. Students also got an opportunity to interact with senior editors and other leading professionals.

Under the aegis of Spic Macay which aims at enhancing traditional Indian Culture and Values, Delhi Public School Rohini organised a Lecture cum demonstration by the world renowned Indian Folk Singer, Padma Bhushan Smt. Teejan Bai an exponent of Pandavani on 6 December 2017.The eminent artist, Smt.Teejan Bai was accompanied by her team of artists.

The School Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh extended a warm welcome and felicitated the artist and her team.The programme commenced with the lighting of the lamp. The Pandavani style folk singer gave a glimpse of her art through a riveting performance where she presented the tale of Dushashan’s vadh at Kurukshetra from the epic Mahabharat. She narrated the story of Mahabharata with her exceptional singing talent which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

On the occasion, the Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh thanked the artist for her scintillating performance and appreciated the beauty of Indian Culture. She also complimented the artist for the mellifluous rendition.

The whole experience of immersing into the vast and deep ocean of Indian classical music was indeed magical. Students gained much through this experience and appreciated the glorious diverse Indian cultural heritage.

Delhi Public School Rohini celebrated its Annual Day with great zest and vibrancy on 20 November 2017. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri V.K Shunglu, Chairman DPS Society. Rear Admiral M.M. Chopra, Vice Chairman DPS Society and Member Managing Committee DPS Rohini, Shri Pramod Grover, Honorary Treasurer, DPS Society and Member Managing Committee DPS Rohini and Shri Promod Rawal, Vice Chairman, Managing Committee DPS Rohini were the Guests of Honour.

The celebrations began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp after which the school Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh, welcomed the august gathering. She talked about the beautiful amalgamation of theatre and dance, ‘Dilli- Tareekh ke Aainey Mein’, a brief history of Delhi through the sands of time and said that staging of a show of such stature, was a great learning experience for all and a testimony to the school's commitment not only to academics but to music, art and theatre as well. She further stated that the best outcome of such an exposure was that children learnt teamwork, developed self-confidence and honed their talents.

A PowerPoint Presentation displaying the achievements of the school was screened and the school annual report presented by the Sr. School students unveiled all the activities undertaken during the past year and highlighted the achievements of the school and the students.

Students enthralled the gathering with their exhilarating orchestra entitled ‘Kalyan - the symphony of a hundred sitars. It was based on Raag Yaman, a Raag meant to be recited only in the late evening. The performance transported the audience into the harmonious land of melody.

The mellifluous choir sang "Boliye Sab Mil Mahashay" a part of Kanhaiya Lal Dixit's Azadi ki Umang and stirred the patriotic nerves of the audience.

The highlight of the evening was the dance drama, ‘Dilli- Tareekh ke Aainey Mein’ which gave the audience an opportunity to peek into the glorious history of Delhi. The magnificent performance drew a huge applause from the audience.

Shri Pramod Grover, Honorary Treasurer, DPS Society and Member Managing Committee DPS Rohini, praised the students for their achievements and also wished that DPS Rohini reaches greater heights and grows richer by new achievements year after year.

The Chief Guest Shri V.K Shunglu, Chairman DPS Society congratulated the school Principal and students for making the show a grand success and wished the best for all future endeavors.

POSTCARDS FROM PARIS 2017 – FRENCH DAY
03 November 2017

Delhi Public School Rohini hosted an Inter School French Language Festival - Postcards from Paris 2017 on 03 November 2017. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Promod Grover- Honorary Treasurer DPS Society and Member Managing Committee, DPS Rohini. Mr. Olivier Litvine –Attache’ for Co-operation in French Language, Embassy of France, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour.

The valedictory ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp followed by a French song titled- Tombe’ Du Ciel by Tal.

The School Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh welcomed the august gathering and in her address highlighted the importance of such festivals, which bond two countries and serve as a common platform for confidence building and strengthening of ties among students hailing from diverse cultures.

Furthermore, two enthralling prize winning performances by the students were appreciated by one and all. An exhilarating dance performance titled 'C'est La Vie' illustrated the celebration of life, bringing in the message of equality, friendship and peace.

The mellifluous choir sang "Boliye Sab Mil Mahashay" a part of Kanhaiya Lal Dixit's Azadi ki Umang and stirred the patriotic nerves of the audience.

The mega event witnessed participation of students from around ­­­50 schools. The students spent a day replete with fun and learning and participated in a wide array of events such as ‘French Rhymes’, ‘Speech by a Legendary French Personality’, ‘Stained Glass Painting’, ‘Quiz based on French Language and Culture’, ‘Newspaper Front Page Designing’ etc. The event proved to be a rewarding opportunity for the students to showcase their talent.

The Chief Guest was overwhelmed to see the variety of talents displayed by the participants and appreciated the school Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh for providing a platform where children received an amazing opportunity to absorb and appreciate two different cultures.

Mr. Olivier Litvine thanked the School Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh on the occasion and traced the growth of friendship between the two countries.

The eventful day culminated with the Prize Distribution ceremony, in recognition of the efforts of the students from various participating schools. It was an enriching and fulfilling experience for all the participating children and teachers.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP
14 OCTOBER,2017

Interact Club, DPS Rohiniin association with Rotary Club Delhi Mauryaorganised a voluntary blood donation camp in the school on Saturday, 14th October 2017 from 8:30am to 1:30 pm. Parents and staff members enthusiastically participated. The camp was a success with a collection of 27 units of blood. Donors were provided a Donor card, souvenir and light refreshments. Student volunteers of Interact club encouraged and motivated the parents and staff members to contribute towards this noble cause.

SWACCHATA HI SEVA
12 OCTOBER,2017

'It's time to take a step - a step that's next to godliness; it's time for us to give service towards the cause of cleanliness.'

Highlighting this, a special programme on Swacchata was conducted in the School Premises on Thursday, 12 October 2017. Mr. Vijay Kumar Bhagat, Deputy Mayor North Delhi Municipal Corporation, Mr. Ashok Goel, Independent Director at Rail Tel Corporation Limited and Mr. DevendraSolanki, Ex. Councillor and Ex. Chairman, MCD graced the occasion.

The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The guests were felicitated and welcomed by the Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh, who stressed upon the need for cleaner surroundings in order to contribute towards making a new and advanced India. She also pointed out that the steps and initiatives taken by Delhi Public School Rohini will definitely have a long- lasting impact on the lives of the students, parents and the people living in the neighbourhood areas.

A glimpse of the project of spreading mass awareness in the neighbourhood was provided to all in the form of a movie- The Abhiyaan. A TalkShow, ‘Swachhata Hi Seva- A Perspective’, gave an insight about the experiences of students, parents and neighbours, who were a part of the mass awareness campaign. A melodious rendition by the School Choir evoked a sense of responsibility towards our surroundings.

The addresses by the special guests were inspiring and encouraging. They truly reiterated Gandhiji’s belief to be the change we wish to see in the world, as it is our own efforts that bring the desired results. They believed in unison that we, as citizens of India, need to bring to fruition the mammoth task of Swacchata undertaken by our honourable Prime Minister.

This was followed by the actual clearing of the surroundings which saw the active and whole-hearted participation of the School .Principal, Vice Principal, guests, parents, teachers and students. Delhi Public School Rohini, indeed set an example by organizing such a large scale cleanliness drive and encouraged all to work with a collective responsibility, thus helping to make this mission a grand success.

The drive culminated with the mantra that 'A clean person is not the one that runs away from dirt but one who takes the time and effort to tidy up a dirty environment'.

It was indeed a befitting tribute to Gandhiji.

23 July 2017

Delhi Public School, Rohini hosted its Scholar Badge and Award Function for Classes VI - XII on 23 July 2017. The function started with the lighting of the lamp. The Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh felicitated the Chief Guest Mr. Rishipal, Deputy Commissioner of Police – Rohini District, Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh congratulated the parents on the success of their children. She emphasized the fact that parents and teachers act as strong pillars in the life of children and help them become worthy and contributing member of the society. She concluded her speech by saying that children should be taught the importance of selfless service.

The School choir enthralled the audience with their musical presentation highlighting the importance of hard work and dedication that leads to success. A dance performance by the students mesmerized the audience. This was followed by a play based on a humorous episode from R.K. Narayan's famous work 'Swami and Friends'.

Prizes and awards were given to students excelling in the field of academics. The Chief Guest applauded the awardees and emphasized on the importance of discipline to remain upfront in all facets of life.

KALEIDOSCOPE
22 JULY, 2017

DPS Rohini organized 'Kaleidoscope'- A step towards Mental Wellness on Saturday, 22 July 2017 with an aim to develop a sense of inclusion, tolerance and acceptance towards diversity.

The event was organized by the Dept. of Mental Health, HOPE under the guidance and leadership of Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh. Eleven schools of Delhi/ NCR participated in different events. The events were envisaged to stimulate the minds of the participants towards social concerns like gender parity, inclusion of all groups, sensitivity and respect towards diversity. Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, eminent psychiatrist was the Chief Guest for the function.

The programme commenced with a Panel Discussion on ‘Overcoming Challenges in Inclusion at School and Community’. Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, opened the discussion with special focus on relation between inclusion and mental health. Dr. Ashwani Agrawal, Hon. Secretary & Ex. Director, National Association for the Blind, Dr. Shalini Prasad, School Counsellor, DPS Vasant Kunj, Mrs. Ritu Nakra, a speech therapist for children with cochlear implants as well as a parent, Ananya Nakra, a student with cochlear implant and Rhea Gupta, representing the general student community were the other panelists. The panelists voiced their concern about the prevailing attitudes towards disability and inclusion and the need to change them. Flexibility and modification in the curriculum to meet the needs of a diverse group of children was stressed upon. Moderator, Mrs. Kanika Sachdeva Govi, urged the audience to ask oneself what one can do, to include people with special needs in all walks of life.

Vivechan, an Inter School Debate Competition on ‘Inclusion meets the Educational Needs of All’, saw teams from eleven schools put forward their views in favour as well as against the motion. The proposition stated that inclusive education is a way of thinking about how to be creative to make our schools a place where all children can participate so that they develop a positive understanding of themselves and others. The opposition voiced their concern and misgivings that it leads to difficulties and disruptions and may not be in the best interest of the child with special needs.

Jagrit, a video interpretation and speaking activity was conducted as a part of this event to sensitize the young minds for inclusion of people from different strata of the society.

The videos emphasized to break the age-old shackles of social prejudices and gender inequality. They also talked about giving due respect and freedom to women to follow their dreams. The activity aimed at stimulating the young minds to take care of the old people, giving them love, respect and also freedom. The activity was a fruitful learning experience.

Abhivyakti, a Hindi poem recitation activity for children with special needs was also organised. The activity aimed at celebrating efforts of the participants.

Bolbala, a movie making competition was conducted on the topic ‘Is Delhi Disable Friendly’.It aimed at helping students understand the need to make their city accessible for people with different abilities.

Avmukta, a poster making competition on Emotions and Life Skills was also oragnized.

The event was appreciated by the attending dignitaries, participants and school counsellors.

The auspicious morning started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mrs. Namita Pradhan, Pro – trustee, Delhi Public School Society. Mr. Vipin Kumar, Principal GBSSS, Pitampura and Mrs. Meena Sharma, Principal, SV, Sector – 17, Rohini, members Managing Committee DPS Rohini also graced the occasion.

The Chief Guest, in her address applauded the achievements of DPS Rohini and encouraged students to make constant efforts and become the best by excelling in the field they are interested in. She also presented badges to the newly appointed cabinet and encouraged them to lead from the front. She then administered the oath of sincerity and dedication. The outgoing office bearers handed over the school flag to the newly appointed cabinet members.

The School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh, highlighted the areas of pride and felt extremely proud to share the areas of excellence that Delhi Public School, Rohini had achieved. She also congratulated the newly appointed cabinet.

AWARD FUNCTION 2017 (CLASSES I – III)

Delhi Public School, Rohini took immense pride in celebrating the success and perseverance of the awardees in the Award function for Classes I – III on 11 May 2017. This event was organised to recognize and honour meritorious students of the Junior School who excelled in Scholastic and Co-scholastic areas.

The programme was initiated by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the School Principal, Vice – Principal and Parent Representative. Mrs. Vibha Singh, Principal, Delhi Public School, Rohini, welcomed the august gathering and stressed on the importance of moral values and problem solving skills in one’s life.

A Talk Show on the theme- A healthy mind resides in a healthy body was presented by the students.

Lauding the students for their commendable efforts, the Principal and the Vice – Principal along with proud grandparents awarded the young achievers for their hardwork and determination.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

AWARD FUNCTION 2017 (CLASSES IV – V)

Delhi Public School Rohini acknowledged the efforts of the Junior School students of Classes IV and V in the Award Function held on Friday, 5 May 2017. The programme began with the lighting of the lamp. The School Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh formally welcomed the gathering and applauded the achievements of the young scholars. The Junior School students presented a talk show on the theme – Looking Beyond the Horizon’. An exhilarating dance performance captivated the audience. Students were awarded badges as a hallmark of true academic genius by the School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh,the Vice Principal, Ms. Kanika S. Govi and some grandparents.

NURSERY ORIENTATION

Nursery Orientation for the parents of new admissions was held on 6 April 2017. Parents were briefed about effective parenting and informed about the pedagogy adopted for Class Nursery.

SPORTS DAY
29 DECEMBER, 2016

‘Sports do not build a character. They reveal it.’

On this note, Delhi Public School, Rohini organised its Annual Sports Day ‘ Triumvirate – A Salute to our Defence Forces ‘ ( A display of Field Events by the Junior School) on 29 December, 2016 amidst great mirth and verve. This Sports festival was celebrated to salute the undying spirit of sacrifice of our Defence Personnel and their love for the country.

The Chief Guest for the occasion wasRear Admiral, M.M. Chopra, Vice Chairman, DPS Society. Shri Sanjay Singh, IPS, Joint Commissioner of Police (Northern Range) was the Guest of Honour.Dr. Sudipta Ghosh, Member Managing Committee, DPS Rohini also graced the occasion. Mr. Atul Khanna, an athlete of International and National repute heightened the excitement among the audience.

The School Principal, Mrs.Vibha Singh felicitated the Chief Guest and the other dignitaries. In her welcome address, she expressed the importance of sportsmanship in one’s life and appreciated the combined efforts of the teachers and parents in the blossoming of the entire personality of children. She also highlighted the importance of such festivals which serve as a platform for children to showcase their sports skills.

This was followed by the hoisting of the National flag and declaring the Meet ‘Open’ by the Chief Guest, marking the commencement of the ceremony, by the lighting of the torch and releasing of balloons. Thereafter, the Chief Guest Shri. M.M. Chopra Sir administered the oath of sincerity and dedication.

The Guest of Honour Mr. Sanjay Singh, took the salute of the spectacular, impressive, and a well synchronized March Past by the contingents of the six Houses of the Middle school. The Salutation March Past won a thunderous applause of the audience.

A medley of popular songs saluting the spirit of patriotism by the school choir mesmerised the audience. The most intriguing aspect that embellished the event, was the splendid field display of colourful performances, involving around 1500 students from Classes Nursery-VI.The young and exuberant students showcased their agility and speed by participating in the races and balancing acts. Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering encouragement for the young athletes.

A dance performance Salaam –e- Zindagi- a salute to our torchbearers by the students of Classes IV and V spellbound the audience and set the flames of excitement ablaze.

The Chief Guest, in his address lauded the School Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh for the very well synchronized programme and acknowledged her as the motivating force behind the success of the event. In his speech, he further added that a focussed mind and passion for work are essential for leading a successful life.

Shri Sanjay Singh, the Guest of Honour congratulated the School Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh and the entire school team for the success of the event. He also encouraged the students to cultivate a positive outlook which in turn provides positive results.

In the Prize Distribution Ceremony, winners were honoured with Gold, Silver and Bronze medals. Narmada House was adjudged the Best House in the March Past and was awarded with a Trophy.

This celebration was dedicated to the real heroes of our nation- our defence forces- for whom serving the motherland is their only passion.

NIHON NO KAORI – THE INTER SCHOOL JAPANESE LANGUAGE FESTIVAL
17 DECEMBER, 2016

Under the aegis of Delhi Public School Society,‘Nihon No Kaori’ – the Inter School Japanese Language Festival – 2016 was hosted by DPS Rohini on 17 December 2016. Conceptualized and initiated by Mr. V. K. Shunglu, Chairman, DPS Society, the festival aimed at enhancing the understanding and appreciation among Japanese language learners of the culture and language of the Japanese people by providing them an interactive and experiential Japanese-speaking opportunity and environment.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Shri P.C. Sen, Member, Managing Committee, DPS Rohini. Mr. Daisuke Kodama, First Secretary, Embassy of Japan was the Guest of Honour. Dr. (Mrs.) Zeenat Khader, Joint Secretary, DPS Society was the special guest as well as the National Convenor.

The mega event saw the participation of over 550 students from around 22 schools. The students spent the day replete with fun and learning and participated in an array of competitions like Group Song, Story on Cards, Happy Japanese Meal and Quiz. An exquisite exhibition displaying Japanese Fans, Beautiful Masks, Travelogue and Gift Wrapping Sheets was put up.

The festival culminated with the Valedictory Function. The School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh welcomed the august gathering, complimented the participants, appreciated the efforts of the teachers and thanked the judges as well as the guests for gracing the occasion. She also reiterated the need for fostering skills of the Japanese language and the culture of Japan in Indian students that would in turn, strengthen the bond of friendship and fraternity between the two countries.

A Talk Show depicting the cultural relations between India and Japan was presented. This was followed by a short dance recital and the Prize Distribution Ceremony recognizing the exceptional talent of the participants.

The Chief Guest was overwhelmed to see the variety of talent displayed by the participants and appreciated the school Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh for providing a platform where children received an amazing opportunity to absorb and appreciate two different cultures. He also talked about the exemplary discipline and the strong value system in Japan.

Mr. Daisuke Kodama, the Guest of Honour shared some interesting facts about Japan’s culture, technology, natural and seasonal beauty. He also thanked the School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh on the occasion for organizing such a wonderful event.

MENTAL HEALTH CELEBRATIONS
29 NOVEMBER, 2016 TO 02 DECEMBER, 2016

Department of Mental Health, HOPE organised ‘Mental Health Week’ celebrations from to address mental health issues related to students. In addition to this, activities related to World AIDS Day and International day of Persons with Disabilities were also organised to create awareness and empathy towards these causes. Peer Educators from Classes IX, X and XI conducted sessions for Classes IV - XI.

Shaman- Anger Management – Peer Educators were trained to conduct an hour long session for Classes VI - VIII. Students were taught about different ways to manage anger. This included Deep Breathing exercises which were conducted in the class including ’Anulom-Vilom ’. Visualizations or Imagery to divert one’s attention from the stimulant causing anger and proprioceptive exercises which included stretching and jumping were carried out.The importance of having rules for group behaviour and maintaining discipline was also highlighted. The session concluded with an audio visual presentation of the song ‘These are a few of my favourite things’.

‘Being Happy’-A session on Being Happy was organized for Classes VII and VIII by the Peer Educators from Classes X and XI. It began with an ice breaker game, ‘Jump in - Jump out’ to create an aura of happiness in the class. An interactive discussion on ‘Happiness’ highlighting its importance, qualities of happy people and ways to be happy was conducted. Children shared the situations which made them happy or unhappy and ways to create a happy environment both in school and at home. An activity ‘Box of Happiness’ was conducted. Each child picked a chit from the box and carried out the activity written on the chit, to be happy. The session ended with another game ‘Crazy Ball’ which was played by all the students.

The session aimed at teaching children to find happiness in routine things and in spreading happiness through small selfless acts.

‘Jagrit’- An Inter house competition on interpretation of videos focusing on Gender related issues was organized in which participants analyzed the video content and expressed their views on issues like Body shaming, Dowry and other stereotypes prevalent in the society.

Blindfolded Walk - A blindfolded walk was organised for Classes IV and V. The children were blindfolded and taken for a walk around the school assisted by Peer Educators from Classes X and XI. The walk aimed at creating awareness among children regarding the challenges faced persons with Visual Impairment while travelling as well as executing other routine actions.

Pantomime - Pantomime was carried out in Classes III, IV and V by Peer Educators. Students had to present situation through pantomime without the use of words. This was followed by a discussion to sensitise the children towards the challenges faced by Persons with Hearing & Speech Impairment.

Interface - A Panel Discussion ‘Interface- Journey from School to the Outside World’ was held on 02 December 2016. The speakers were our Alumni Ms. Vibhu Sharma, a visually impaired student who is currently pursuing her post-graduation in English from the Delhi University, Ms. Khushboo Bharti who is pursuing Fashion Management from NEFT, Delhi and Mr. Abhishek Gupta, an archer at the International Level and pursuing his graduation in commerce from the DU.

The discussion evolved around the difficulties faced at school, attitudes of peers and the journey beyond school. All the panellists agreed that Awareness and Empathy set the pace for successful inclusion of children with Special needs in a mainstream school.

Morning Assemblies - Morning Assembly on International Day of Persons with Disabilities was presented by the Junior School on 29 November 2016.

SPIC MACAY – VIRASAT 2016
22 NOVEMBER, 2016 TO 24 NOVEMBER, 2016

Spic Macay – Virasat 2016 was celebrated at Delhi Public School, Rohini from 22 November to 24 November 2016. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The school Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh extended a warm welcome and felicitated the artists and their teams. In her speech, she complimented them for presenting highly engaging performances and enlightening the young audience. She also added that the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture among youth is important since such events help in enriching education with the appreciation of our rich heritage.

A lecture demonstration by Ustad Mazhar Ali Khan and Ustad Jawed Ali Khan mesmerized the entire school on the first day i.e. 22 November 2016. The performance began with a stellar rendition of the morning raga sung with a great poise and elegance and ended with a virtuoso performance of the popular Hindustani song – ‘Aae na Baalam……..’ The great intensity in some portions of their performance mesmerized the audience. The mesmerizing display of thumris and ragas enchanted the gathering.

On 23 November 2016, in order to preserve and promote Indian cultural music, a lecture demonstration of Rajasthani folk Music by Rehmat Khan Langa – a Rajasthani folk singer was organised. His intuitive and soulful singing has the capacity to mesmerize, heal and transport one to a different world. The faculty, students and guests were enthralled by the enchanting performance of “Haanji re Banni Tu” which has become the anthem of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign. He also sang ‘Kesariya Baalam……’,’Nimuda Nimuda’, and many other songs. It was indeed a very captivating and spellbinding rendition which will always remain embedded in the students’ memory for a long time to come.

On the concluding day i.e. 24 November 2016, Pandit Rammohan Maharaj-a leading Kathak exponent in his graceful style started the lecture demonstration by invoking the blessings of the God. The dancer’s amazing footwork and hast-mudras along with relevant explanations enchanted the audience. His versatility, rhythmic precision and fantastic footwork were appreciated by all.

The highly interactive sessions on Classical music and dance forms left the students asking for more. The whole experience of immersing into the vast and deep ocean of Indian classical music and dance was magical in every sense. Students gained much through this experience and appreciated our glorious culture.

SPIC MACAY – VIRASAT 2016
05 NOVEMBER, 2016

DPS Rohini hosted XINO-2016, fourth edition of Inter School Computer Competition on Saturday, 05 November 2016 in which 15 schools from Delhi and NCR participated. The competition was held with the firm belief that it is possible to explore new horizons of technology through innovation and practical learning.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mr.Rahul Tyagi, VP Training, Lucideus. The Guests of Honour were Mr. Mohit Gupta and Ms. Bhavna Sharma.

XINO 2016 provided a platform to the young tech enthusiasts to equip them with skills that will help them shape the digital world of tomorrow. The symposium, with a wide spectrum of seven uniquely designed events, motivated the students to think out of the box and gave a prodigious opportunity to compete, perform and work on mind blowing ideas.

DPS Rohini won the Winner’s Trophy but being the host school passed it to DPS Noida. DPS RK Puram won the First Runners Up Trophy.

GERMAN EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
07 OCTOBER, 2016 TO 27 OCTOBER, 2016

As part of the German Exchange Programme 2016-2017 facilitated by Max Mueller Bhavan, New Delhi, a team of 16 German students and 2 German teachers Ms. Julia Piper and Mr. Jan Dirk Froend of Loburg, Gymnasium Johanneum and Ostbevern visited Delhi Public School, Rohini from 07 October to 27 October 2016.

To enhance their understanding of the Indian life and culture, the German students were involved in a project on the theme- ‘Breaking Barriers- Road to Unity’. The German children attended regular classes at DPS Rohini to give them an insight into our teaching-learning methodology.

Along with their Indian counterparts, the German students visited the Taj Mahal at Agra, Gandhi Smriti, the Parliament, Akshardham Temple and other places of tourist interest in Delhi. It was an enriching experience for the students of both the countries and the German guests carried back fond memories of the trip.

ANTI - CRACKER CAMPAIGN
27 OCTOBER, 2016

As part of the ‘Anti-Cracker Campaign’, students took an oath in the Assembly to ‘Say No to Crackers’ and to strive towards a ‘Clean Delhi Green Delhi’. This was an initiative by the District Disaster Management Authority, office of the Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) North-West Dis., Kanjhawala, Delhi.

The students of class XI presented a street play depicting the deplorable conditions caused by water scarcity and our social responsibility towards rectifying the situation.

Past President Kavya Aggarwal presented the report about the various social initiatives taken by the club during the year 2015-16. In order to highlight the importance of girl literacy and to spread awareness regarding the same, a poster-making competition was conducted for classes IX-XII and the winners of the competition were awarded cash prizes by the Rotary members.

As an initiative of Staff Welfare Program a Special Medical Camp was organized for the entire staff od DPS, Rohini on 27 September 2016. Specialists from Apollo Hospital conducted the following-

A Special Medical check-up was conducted for students of Class VI on 28 September 2016. It included-

A hands-on Training Session on Basic Life Support Techniques including CPR for students of Class XI was also organized.

SCHOLAR BADGE AND AWARD FUNCTION
23 JULY, 2016

Delhi Public School, Rohini hosted its Scholar Badge and Award Function for the Senior School Classes X and XII on 23 July 2016. The function started with the traditional lighting of the lamp. The Principal Mrs. Vibha Singh felicitated the Chief Guest Shri Vikramjit Singh, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Outer District, Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh congratulated the parents on the success of their children. She emphasized on the immense responsibility of the parents in inculcating life skills among their children to enable them to become worthy and contributing member of the society. She concluded her speech by saying that the children require wings to fly and roots to be grounded.

The School choir enthralled the audience with their musical presentation highlighting role of the school in the holistic development of the child. This was followed by a ‘Talk Show’ highlighting the conviction that a school empowers its students in the best possible way and an enthralling dance performance with a message that life is precious and the students must experience all that education and environment have to offer.

Prizes and awards were given to the students excelling in the field of academics and co – curricular activities. The Chief Guest applauded the awardees and emphasized on the importance of discipline in one’s life by explaining that discipline is to do the right things when no one is watching.

The programme ended with the vote of thanks proposed by the School Vice-Principal Mrs. Kanika Sachdeva Govi.

FOUNDATION DAY AND INVESTITURE CEREMONY
02 JULY, 2016

Delhi Public School Rohini celebrated its 22 Foundation Day and Investiture Ceremony on 2 July 2016 with great enthusiasm. It was a milestone in the journey of the school which has grown from humble beginnings to its eminent stature today.

The auspicious morning started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest Shri V.K. Shunglu, Chairman, Delhi Public School Society and Shri Promod Rawal , Vice – Chairman , Managing Committee , Delhi Public School, Rohini, who was presiding over the function.

The Chief Guest Shri V.K. Shunglu Chairman, Delhi Public School Society in his address expressed his satisfaction over the achievements of the institution and encouraged students to make constant efforts and become the best by imposing self-discipline in their lives. He also presented badges to the newly appointed cabinet and encouraged them to lead from the front. He then administered the oath of sincerity and dedication and the outgoing Head Boy and the Head Girl handed over the school flag to the new members.

Shri Promod Rawal , Vice – Chairman , Managing Committee , Delhi Public School, Rohini felt extremely proud and congratulated the school for providing quality education aimed towards building responsible citizens for tomorrow. The School Principal, Ms. Vibha Singh, highlighted the areas of pride and shared the future projection of the institution to make it the center of excellence in all spheres of education.

The Chairman along with the other eminent guests inaugurated a sculpture ‘We Care’ signifying DPS Rohini’s philosophy of caring for everything in its domain including the society and environment.

The air was filled with the mellifluous accord of sounds by the musical presentation to mark the journey of the glorious years of DPS Rohini. On the occasion, Coffee with DPS Rohini ‘was staged by the senior students of the school to take the audience further through the journey of success and progress.

The energy and passion of the students was visible in the scintillating dance performance ‘Windows to Archways’.

The celebrations ended with a birthday song and cake- cutting ceremony.

She also shared the names of students who have made it to AIIMS and the IITs. A Radio Show was presented by the students in which Generation Y and the Older Generation reflected their thoughts about our educational system. Lauding the students for their commendable efforts, the Principal and the Vice – Principal along with parents awarded the young achievers for their hard work and determination. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

Scholar Badge Ceremony – 2016

Delhi Public School, Rohini , felicitated the Middle and the Senior School scholars at a ceremony held in the school premises on 23 April,2016 to recognise and reward students who have proved their mettle in curricular and co-curricular terrains.

The function started with the traditional lighting of the lamp. The School Principal, Mrs. Vibha Singh formally welcomed the gathering and applauded the achievements of the young scholars and encouraged one and all to strive for their goals. The occasion was graced by Mr. Girish Sethi, Senior Director at TERI, the Energy and Resources Institute as the Chief Guest.

The School Choir enthralled the audience with their musical presentation, which stressed on the necessity of unity of minds to promote togetherness. An exhilarating dance performance entitled ‘Parampara’, captivated the audience. A play was staged by the students of DPS Rohini on the theme of creating balance between human needs and nature.

This was followed by the highlight of the event which was the awarding of Scholar Badges to the students of classes from VI – IX and XI. Students were awarded scholar badges as a hallmark of true academic genius by the Chief Guest, the School Principal and the Vice – Principal and the grandparents.

This ceremony is one, when gleaming enthusiasm and the triumphant spirit of the young scholars can be seen and felt. Parents and grandparents of the young scholars were also invited who proudly witnessed their wards receiving their honours.

Lauding the students for their commendable efforts, the Chief Guest, Mr. Girish Sethi shared his life experiences to motivate the awardees to be responsible citizens and serve the society in their individual capacity.

BOOK LAUNCH CEREMONY
18 December 2015

The book ''Steps of Life'' was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, the renowned former cricketer Mr. K. Srikanth in a formal ceremony at Delhi Public School, Rohini on 18 December 2015. The other eminent guest was Mr Ved Prakash, Vice President, Britannica, South-East Asia. The ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp. The Officiating Principal, Mrs. Minakshi Khurana, felicitated and welcomed the guests. In her welcome address, Mrs. Khurana emphasised the importance of being focused to realize one's dream and be the trendsetter.

In his speech, Mr. Srikanth urged the students to respect their gurus i.e. their teachers. If youngsters are innovative, respectful towards others, have the passion to go beyond the limits and be the explorers, they can reach the pinnacle of success, said the Chief Guest.

During the interactive session with the students, Mr. Srikanth effortlessly answered the students' queries about his experience as an engineer, a cricketer and a writer. His conviction and eloquence enthused and inspired the young audience.

NAMASTE DEUTSCHLAND-2015-INTER SCHOOL GERMAN LANGUAGE FESTIVAL

Delhi Public School Rohini hosted the Inter School German Language Festival Namaste Deutschland 2015, to celebrate Indo-German friendship, on 31 October,2015. The festival was organized in collaboration withGoethe -Institute Max Mueller Bhavan and DPS Society to bring together students from various schools, learning the German language to enable them to discover similarities and diversities between India and Germany, thereby strengthening existing bilateral relations and paving the way for expanding them further.

The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. B P Khandelwal, Member, Delhi Public School Society. The Special Guest of Honour was Ms. Claudia Maul, Deputy Director, South Asia, Goethe Institute- Max Mueller Bhavan. The Guests of Honour were Mr. Carl- Jochen Dill Head of Educational Services, Goethe Institute- Max Mueller Bhavan and Ms. Kirti Baweja, Officer-Culture, Education and Science, Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany.

The school Principal Mrs. Rita Sen, in her address mentioned the importance of such festivals, which serve as a common platform for students learning the German language to exchange views and delve deep into the treasure trove of German culture.

The mega event saw participation from 3000 students, representing around 103 schools. A spectacular exhibition showcased the impressions of Indian students, regarding diverse aspects of Germany. The participating students enthralled the gathering with their exhilarating live music performances. Students from various schools attended Bakery, T– Shirt Painting, Schultute, Foto Geschichte , Entdeckungsreise and Schulerzeitung workshops and the gathering also enjoyed watching two films-‘Die Drei’ and ‘Kaddish für einen Freund’.

The students spent a day replete with fun and learning and participated in a myriad of competitions like Graffiti, Book-Mark Making and Quiz on Germany. The highlight of the ceremony was the award of Certificates of Merit and prizes to students, for successfully clearing ‘FIT in Deutsch’ 1 and 2.

The Chief Guest, Professor B.P Khandelwal in his address praised the excellently organized festival and and was overwhelmed to witness the exceptional talent that each child showcased. He also appreciated the school Principal Mrs. Rita Sen for providing a platform where children received an amazing opportunity to absorb and process two different cultures.

Ms. Claudia Maul thanked all the participating schools in making the event a success. She also congratulated the school principal Mrs. Rita Sen on the occasion and traced the growth of Indo- German friendship in her speech.

It was an enriching and fulfilling experience for all the children participating in it.

POSTCARDS FROM PARIS 2015 – FRENCH DAY

Delhi Public School Rohini hosted an Inter School French Language Festival - Postcards from Paris 2015 on 16 October 2015. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr Promod Grover- Honorary Treasurer DPS Society and Member Managing Committee. Ms Caroline Schmitt –Attache for Cooperation in French Language, Embassy of France, New Delhi was the Guest of Honour.

The valedictory ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp after which the School Principal Mrs. Rita Sen addressed the gathering. In her speech, she talked about the importance of such festivals, which serve as a common platform for students learning French language where they can meet to exchange views and delve deep into the treasure trove of French culture.

An exhilarating dance performance entitled ‘C’est La Vie’ illustrated the celebration of life, bringing in the message of equality , friendship and peace.

The mega event witnessed the participation of students from around 52 schools. The students spent a day replete with fun and learning and participated in a wide array of events such as Chat Show, Poetry Recitation, Quiz, Graffiti and Group Song Presentation. The event proved to be a rewarding opportunity for students to showcase their talent.

The eventful day culminated with the Prize Distribution ceremony, in recognition of the efforts of the students from various participating schools. It was an enriching and fulfilling experience for all the participating children and teachers.

BIZECO– AN INTER – SCHOOL BUSINESS AND ECONOMICS FEST
29 September 2015

Delhi Public School, Rohini organized BIZECO, An Inter – School Business and Economics Fest (BEF), on 1 October, 2015. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Himanshu Malik, Managing Director at Subzi Nation and Director at TAXICO. Schools participated in four competitions - The Trader, The Realtor, The Startup Summit and The Quizeco.

All four simulations allowed the participants to indulge in inquisitive and intellectual discussions where the students were asked to present and sell an entrepreneurship idea. ‘The Quizeco’ tested general knowledge in the field of commerce while ‘The Realtor’ was a more serious simulation of property trading. ‘The Trader’ ran on the lines of a model stock market providing the students a chance to take a chance.

The valedictory ceremony began with the lighting of the lamp after which the School Principal, Mrs. Rita Sen addressed the gathering. Mrs. Sen spoke about paradigm shift that has taken place in our attitude towards business and entrepreneurial ventures.

A melodious composition - ‘VadyaVrind’ was presented by the school orchestra which was followed by a graceful dance performanceentitled ‘Windows to Archways’.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Himanshu Malik addressed the gathering and enlightened the participants with his experience in the business bubble. He emphasized on openness, courage, optimism and hard work as the keys to success.

DPS Dwarka were the overall Winners. The Runners Up Trophy was bagged by DPS Mathura Road.

The event concluded with the National Anthem by the school choir.

XINO-2015
1 August 2015

DPS Rohini hosted XINO-2015, an Inter School Computer Competition on Saturday, 01 August 2015 in which 20 schools from Delhi and NCR participated. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Mridul Anand, VP International Operations, Zomato.

The competition, with an ensemble of 13 uniquely designed events motivated the students to think out of the box and provided a platform to the young tech enthusiasts to express their creativity and technical prowess.

DPS Rohini won the Winners Trophy but being the host school, passed it to DPS Dwarka. DPS RK Puram won the Runners Up Trophy. DPS Vasant Kunj took home the Second Runners Up Trophy.

DPSR MUN 2015
23-24 July 2015

The second edition of the Delhi Public School Rohini Model United Nations Conference (DPSR MUN) 2015 was hosted by DPS Rohini at Delhi Public School, Rohini on 23 and 24 July, 2015. The theme for the conference was “Concordia Discors”, meaning Harmony in Discord.

The five committees simulated were:

  1. All India Political Parties Meet
  2. World Trade Organisation
  3. United Nations Security Council
  4. Bandung Conference 1955
  5. Team X, McKinsey & Co.

The Conference also saw the simulation of the International Press.

Around 25 schools and 119 participants from in and around Delhi participated in the event with great enthusiasm. Some of the participating schools were DPS Noida, DPS Sushant Lok, DPS, Gurgaon, DPS, Noida, Amity International,Saket G.D.Goenka ,Dwarka, Mount Carmel Public School and The Sri Ram School, Aravalli.

There were three categories of awards: Best Delegate, High Commendation and Special Mention in each committee that were won by different schools.

The overall award for the Best Delegation went to The Sri Ram School, Aravalli.

SCHOLAR BADGE AND AWARD FUNCTION

Delhi Public School, Rohini celebrated its Scholar Badge and Award function on 17 July 2015, to recognize and honour meritorious students of the senior school (Class X and XII) who excelled in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest Mr. Sanjay Goel, IAS, District Magistrate, North West Delhi, Government of NCT, Delhi.

Mrs. Rita Sen, Principal, Delhi Public School, Rohini, proudly announced the Class XII Board Results which have won DPS Rohini State level Rank IV among all CBSE schools of Delhi. She also shared the names of students who have made it to AIIMS and the IITs this year.

The School band enthralled the audience with their musical presentation, an orchestra entitled ‘Nostalgic Notes’. An exhilarating dance performance entitled ‘Bhagyalakshmi’, captivated the audience.

Lauding the students for their commendable efforts, the Chief Guest,Mr. Sanjay Goel motivated the awardees to be responsible citizens and serve society in their individual capacity while continuing with their quest for excellence.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

SCHOLAR BADGE AND AWARD FUNCTION

On this note, Delhi Public School, Rohini hosted its Scholar Badge and Award Function for the Middle and the Senior School on 25 April 2015.The Principal Mrs. Rita Sen felicitated the Chief Guest Mr. S.S Rawat, Regional Officer, C.B.S.E. Delhi.

Addressing the gathering, the Principal, Mrs. Rita Sen congratulated the parents on the success of their children. She emphasized on the immense responsibility of the parents in bringing out the best in their children who have to deal with peer pressure and many more challenges. She also enlightened the audience with practical tips on parenting.

This was followed by an enthralling dance performance entitled ‘Laxmi Stotra’ – celebrating the power of purity.

Prizes and awards were given to the students excelling in the field of academics and co – curricular activities. The Chief Guest congratulated the school for creating a wonderful teaching learning atmosphere. He also applauded the awardees and congratulated the school Principal for ensuring all round development and academic standard of excellence in the school.

The programme ended with the National Anthem.

SPIC MACAY
15 April 2015

Under the aegis of Spic Macay, Delhi Public School, Rohini organized a lecture demonstration by the creator of Mohan Veena and the winner of the Grammy Award ‘Pt. Vishwa Mohan Bhatt’ who mesmerized the entire school with his music on 15 April 2015.

The event started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The School Principal Mrs. Rita Sen extended a warm welcome to the artists and said that the promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture among youth is important as such events help in enriching education with the appreciation of our rich heritage.

Panditji, in his brief comments before the performance shared that one of the misconceptions that the Indian youth have about Indian classical music is that it is slow and therefore not exciting enough. Heemphasized that Indian classical music can match any other music in terms of pace. Panditji talked about the spiritual content in Indian classical music which helps one to connect with the silence within.

Accompanied by the noted Tabla player Pandit Ram Kumar Mishra, he then went on to demonstrate Nat Bhairav – which is a morning raga identified with peace and devotion. The great intensity and the high ‘speed’ in some portions of his performance mesmerized the audience.

The whole experience of immersing into the vast and deep ocean of Indian classical music was magical in every sense.

The Principal, Ms. Rita Sen welcomed the proud parents of the young achievers. The Junior School choir mesmerized the audience with a beautiful song ’We Are Going to Beat the World’. Saadhya Gupta recited a motivating poem titled ‘Follow Your Dreams’. A foot tapping dance performance enthralled the gathering. The Principal, Ms. Rita Sen presented the prizes to the proud award winners. The programme culminated with the singing of the National Anthem.
